2023 Scholarship Information in Process
To support the collegiate education of professional gardeners, GOGA is pleased to offer two $1000 scholarships yearly to students enrolled in horticultural and floriculture programs at The Ohio State University’s Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in Wooster, Ohio. In the past ten years, GOGA has awarded over twenty scholarships. Here is a link to the scholarship application and information: Interested applicants would download this application, fill it out and return it with supporting documents by mail or email to the address provided within.
To be eligible, a student must have a permanent address in one of these Ohio counties: Summit, Cuyahoga, Portage, Medina, Stark, Wayne. In addition to completing and submitting this application, a student must also submit to the Scholarship Committee of GOGA two letters of recommendation: One letter will be from a person who can attest to the student’s academic ability and potential for completing a professional program (that is, a person within an academic institution) and one letter that attests to the applicant’s character (from a person either within or without an academic institution). All application documents must be submitted by the date stipulated on the application, and the student must be available for an in-person interview with the GOGA Scholarship Committee (any exception at the discretion of the committee).
Expectations for Scholarship Recipients
Per the application, an award winner agrees to have an announcement of the award submitted to the winner’s local news outlet(s). Further, a winner agrees to attend and be a guest of GOGA at one of its monthly meetings to receive a certificate of award and congratulations from GOGA members. Scholarship checks are sent directly to ATI.
Scholarship Requirements
Submit the completed application and supporting letters of recommendation by March 1, 2022 through email or post to the address in the application.
